As LGBTQ people, we have unique health concerns. Unfortunately, the conventional medical system rarely respects our identities, our particular needs, and our financial situations, making this form of healthcare out of reach to many in our community. When medical appointments are available, we frequently come away feeling judged, disempowered, and even bullied by the practitioner with whom we meet. But there is an alternative! In this class, we will discuss how to care for our own health, in an accepting and supportive environment.

With the holiday season approaching, many LGBTQ folks find this a particularly stressful time of year. The anxieties that accompany visiting family, who may not accept us, can be overwhelming. However, there are many plants that are happy to help us reduce the anxiety in our bodies. Together, we will talk about herbs for the emotional stresses unique to living life as a queer person in a hostile culture. We will also cover issues surrounding hormonal gender transition, addiction and harm reduction, and some first aid. LGBTQ folks, friends, partners, and allies are all welcome!
