Medical marijuana continues to gain legal status in more and more states, and even recreational use has been legalized by Colorado and Washington. Opinions abound as to how, when, and by whom it should be used – and in the fracas it sometimes gets lost that this medicine is an herb, not a drug. And if you want to understand an herb, you talk to an herbalist!
As is true of all herbs, cannabis has specific properties and effects which can be useful to those suffering from pain and discomfort. By understanding its actions in the idiom of traditional herbal medicine, we can learn to identify when its use is indicated for a particular person or problem – as well as when it should not be used, or when another herb would suit the situation better.
Medicinal use of cannabis is a polarizing subject. We are not a dispensary or caregiver; we do not prescribe, cultivate, sell, prepare, or administer cannabis. This class is intended to provide information and guidance on the appropriate use of the herb in the context of legal use. Please think responsibly.
