Rose Wallpaper (Rosa canina, spp.)

Check out these Rose wallpaper images we made for you!

This week we’re featuring Rose, Rosa canina, spp.

Rose, along with next week’s herb, Calamus, is our herbal theme for 2025 – so we’re kicking off the new year with Rose wallpapers for your computer and phone!

We’re talking about wild Roses here – usually when people think of Roses these days, we think of Valentine’s bouquets. But these are the kinds of Roses that are smaller, with five or maybe ten petals, and that grow as brambles in wild and unkempt places. That’s important, because it’s such a big part of Rose’s actions actually!

That big bramble patch is really hard for humans or larger animals to get through. But if you know a place where Roses are growing wild, go take a closer look: you’ll see little trails all round the base of the vines, in between them. These are made by small furry creatures who are hiding in the Rose brambles from predators who are not able to get in past the thorns.

I love this visual image – because if we say that Rose helps with anxiety or with depression or with feeling threatened or fearful, well those things are true. But when you imagine a little chipmunk taking refuge in the bramble – that imagery helps shift your understanding about Rose’s actions on emotional health from some abstract facts to something that you can really feel and relate to!

So any time that you’re feeling like you need some cover, a safe space to rest for a while before you go back out into the world – that’s a time for Rose! (Plus, if you happen to scratch yourself on some thorns, Rose is also super helpful as first aid and wound care, too!)
